Embed BIP38

Anchor a BIP38 key in OP_RETURN

OP_RETURN

Put BIP38 on-chain with its address.

Fund an address for the first time while embedding its BIP38 key, or embed after funding with change back to the same address.

Fund + embed

Pay the BIP38 address from another key and include that BIP38 string in OP_RETURN in the same transaction. Change returns to the funding address.

Provide the target password (to derive the address) and/or paste the target address. At least one is required. If both are set, they must match.

Warning: If you paste an address without the password, that address must match the BIP38 key. A mismatch sends coins to the wrong place while embedding a different key’s BIP38.

Self-embed

Spend from an already-funded BIP38 address, write the BIP38 string to OP_RETURN, and return change to the same address.

Change returns to the same address. This is intentional for a long-lived BIP38 wallet.

Lookup embedded BIP38

Enter a Bitcoin address to scan its transactions for BIP38 strings written to OP_RETURN by this tool.

Warning: The BIP38 string becomes permanent public blockchain data. Security depends only on password strength. Never embed an unencrypted WIF. Keys are processed in this browser; publish the hex on /publish.
